Snacks for Your Slots Night In

A night spent playing games online is something we all enjoy, even when your cat tries to sit on your lap or keyboard the entire time! No matter what themes you favour when you play slots online at our bingo site, we know that sometimes you need a bit of fuel to keep you going.

We also know that having to get up to make snacks when you’re hungry can be inconvenient if you’re in the zone. To make sure you stay powered up, and guilt- and food mess-free, here are five healthy snack ideas to try on your next online gaming night.

1. Fruit and veggie chips

As an online slots fan, you’ll already be familiar with fruit symbols, so why not add some of these to your gaming snack platter IRL? Salty, fried crisps are delicious, yes, but unfortunately they’re not the best for your health. Rather swap these out with some yummy corn or root vegetable crisps instead, which are usually baked and lower in fat.

If you feel like some extra veggies, you could also try baking up some kale chips, or even some slices of apple. Lots of fruit is nibble-size – raspberries and blueberries, for example, if that’s more your bag. Sliced crudités such as celery sticks or carrot batons could also be a winner if you prefer a bit of fresh crunchiness.

Of course, you could always dip these into hummus, guacamole, or ranch dressing, but this could get a bit messy, and you might need to keep the dipping bowl away from your lap cat (paws off, Tibbles!).

2. Nuts and dried fruit

Healthy snacks aren’t too difficult to find these days – you only have to pop past your local supermarket to find a variety of tasty and healthy options. You could just have a nice little stash of mixed nuts and dried fruit near you while you play, but why not make something a bit tastier, if you’re feeling creative?

For instance, to make energising date balls (which are easy to eat with one hand), just pop some stoned dates, desiccated coconut, and other nuts into a food processor and whizz them up – they’re very easy to make (just form into balls using your hands), or instead you could try out a recipe for some delicious nut-based bars or squares.

It’s good to know that nuts like walnuts are particularly nutritious, as they contain omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for health and can support optimal brain function and memory. Another good reason to ditch the crisps and sweets in favour of this guilt-free snack!

3. Sushi

Sushi is one of the most neatly packaged types of food there is, which means that it’s easy to eat pieces of it with one hand using chopsticks. Even if you don’t like fish, or don’t eat meat, there are various types of vegetarian sushi you can try, for example, cucumber rolls or maki rolled with pickled daikon radish.

Sushi handrolls or temaki are probably the easiest to eat; they also come in a variety of different styles and flavours. These are quite easy to make at home, although you might want to skip on the soya sauce near your desk or screen!

If you’d like something a bit different, you could try the Korean version of sushi, which is called kimbap. This seaweed roll is usually stuffed with vegetables and pieces of sliced egg omelette. It’s delicious and is a real step up in flavour from your usual snacking “fodder” – yet you still have the convenience of having bite-sized edibles to hand when you’re playing slots online

If you prefer even smaller sushi pieces, you can make your own micro-sushi using an ice tray, which we think is pretty ingenious. Depending on what you put into your sushi, you might need to hide these snacks from your kitty, though, especially if they’re used to fishy-flavoured treats!

4. Boiled eggs

Eggs are extremely nutritious, and many sources state that eating up to three eggs per day is purrfectly fine if you don’t have any health issues.

Eggs also contain choline, which is an essential ingredient in creating acetylcholine in your body. This neurotransmitter assists with memory and overall brain function, which can certainly help to focus when you play online slots (or any other games).

Boiled eggs are also very easy to cook and eat, and you can always spice them up with some paprika or anything else that tickles your fancy. They’re also quite filling, so should help to keep those hunger pangs at bay when you land those extra free spins!

5. Sweet treats

We all know that jelly babies are very moreish, but all the sugar they contain is not ideal for your health – or your teeth! Instead of packaged gummy sweets, you can always try eating some frozen grapes. These year-round freezer treats should really hit the spot with their sweetness, while also providing a whole host of other nutritious benefits – including being chock-full of antioxidants. These juicy treats are also wonderful when popped into a fruity drink instead of ice cubes!

To add a bit of indulgence to your game-playing experience, you could always eat a piece or two of dark chocolate. It is rich in minerals and flavonols, which could help to keep your eyes healthy.

Of course, you’ll need something to drink to wash all these healthy snacks down with (away from your digital devices, obviously!), and there’s a lot to be said for just drinking plain, old water in place of the fizzy, sugary drinks that are so easy to reach for. You may not notice the difference immediately, but your waistline will thank you for cutting out those “hidden calories” in the long run!
