Experience the magic of Christmas in the UK
Who said that you have to book flights to Lapland to see Santa this year? Ho Ho Ho… says, Father Christmas! There are loads of magical encounters to experience and feel around the UK this Christmas. From a King-size buffet fit for tummies of all ages to a place 140m underground, this Christmas; Santa will be popping up in a selection of strange but pleasing places. Oh, book your place on Kitty Bingo before his schedule fills!
Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park
Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park is one of the most common London Christmas Markets. It is an iconic holiday symbol, for sure. However, it is more like a giant fairground with beer tents, games, rides and plenty of yummy stands offering everything from pints and chocolate to bratwurst and pretzels. What’s exceptional? It has a family-friendly vibe, aplenty with fun and entertainment.
Kinver Edge, Staffordshire
The National Trust area of Kinver Edge is an astonishing place, a forested escarpment where a gold-streaked rockface has small houses carved straight into its base. They seem to be like they were meant for elves regardless the season. You must walk across the frosty wild heathland to reach the houses, where you’ll explore the houses lit by candlelight as well as a very unique guest: Father Christmas himself. Expect him to be doling out presents alongside a good dollop of cheer!
National Coal Mining Museum for England, Yorkshire
Having the chance to meet Father Christmas 140m underground doesn’t come so often! Don your yellow hard hat and descend into the thrilling depths of the National Coal Mining Museum for England, where you’ll discover about Victorian coalminers and get to meet a real miner. Follow by booking in to see Santa and all mini-miners are bound to receive an exceptional gift. That’s not the end, the festivities continue! Pocket Panto will proudly present “Dick Whittington” there as well as a Christmas Music event by a brass band.
London Christmas Lights
Christmas Lights in London are second to none! In fact, the light displays are the main draw. Visitors can head to several main areas to see the London Christmas lights. Luckily, these places are all relatively close together… no need to run a marathon in your Christmas jumpers! Hence, it makes it easy to walk from one area to the next.
The most popular places are Carnaby Street, Covent Garden, Regent Street and Oxford Street. This year, Regent-street will have sophisticated white displays that will remind you of angels, while Oxford Street will have silver and purple balls strung across the street. Plus, they have bright HO HO HO lights along with the lyrics to Bohemian Rhapsody strung above in neon colours.
Eden Project, Cornwall
The Eden Project leaves no stones unturned for Christmas, with an ice rink and shimmering trees, while their Santa experience is considerately imaginative and creative. Behind the scenes, children get to help out and see the stunningly ornamented interiors that are home to the elves. They will see the piles of letters from kids divided into categories and the knitted stockings hung up ready for the big day. Finally, they get to meet the man himself, who will read them a Christmas tale by the fireside.
Ready to experience the magic of Christmas? During the festive season, UK is bright, fun and fast-paced. Who knows, visiting the aforementioned places could be your cup of tea!
